Three naxals killed in police encounter in AP

Hyderabad, May 5: Three naxals of the banned Janashakthi party were killed in a police encounter near Gollapadu village of Tekulapalli mandal in Khammam district, about 200 km away from here.

Acting on a tip-off that three naxals had come to the village to collect money from the people, a special police team rushed to the spot, police said.

When the police asked the naxals to surrender, they opened fire on the special team. The police retaliated, killing all the naxals on the spot. They were yet to be identified, police said.

Two eight mm rifles and a SPBL tapancha were recovered from the spot, police added.
