Select metals down on lower buying support by stockists

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Select metals like copper heavy, copper wire bars and tin slab were down today on lower buying support by stockists from Kolkata, Delhi and Indore centre, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said.

In ferrous metal category, copper heavy fell by Rs 200 per quintal due to sluggish demand by stockists.

Copper utensils, brass utensils and aluminium utensils remained steady on moderate demand by stockists.

In non-ferrous metal category, copper wire bars and tin slab became cheaper by Rs 100 per quintal and by Rs 25 per kg respectively amid sustained heavy selling pressure by dealers.

However, aluminium ingot, zinc slab, lead ingot and nickel cathode remained unchanged due to scattered buying by small industries.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 36,400, copper utensils - Rs 33,000, brass utensils - Rs 25,200, brass cuttings - Rs 26,200 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,100.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,300, zinc slab - Rs 11,300, lead ingots - Rs 12,700, tin slab - Rs 1,015 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,360 per kg.
