Rupee opens low at 40.64/88 per USD

Mumbai, May 5: Rupee today opened low at 40.64/66 against US Dollar from its last close of 40.62/64 on fresh purchased Dollar by oil exporters and foreign banks. Dealers said, ''Later it rose on Monday as banks unwound long Dollar positions and exporters sold the U S currency to cash in at current levels.

Meanwhile, Rupee fluctuated in a narrow range and quoted between 40.53 and 40.66 per Dollar, about 0.25 per cent higher from Friday's close of 40.62/64. There was Dollar selling pressure till noon session by local operators.
