Pt Kishan Maharaj's mortal remains consigned to flames

Varanasi, May 5 (UNI) The last rites of tabla maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishan Maharaj were performed here this evening.

Pt Maharaj's son Pooran Maharaj, a Sarod player, lit the pyre at Manikarnika Ghat.

The maestro passed away early morning in a nursing home, where he was admitted on April 29, following a paralysis attack.

Pt Maharaj's fans and well-wishers congregated outside his house to pay him last tributes.
