Manmohan Singh, Sonia to campaign in Karnataka

Bangalore, May 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi will campaign for Congress candidates in the three-phase elections to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Ms Gandhi would address two public meetings at K R Pura and Tumkur on May 7, while Dr Singh would address a public gathering on May 8, the last date of campaigning for the phase-one poll to 89 seats on May 10, AICC General Secretary Prithviraj Chavan told a press conference here today.

As May 8 is the last day for campaigning, the Prime Minister would address the public in Chowdaiah hall at 1100 hrs.

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would campaign for the second and third phase elections scheduled to be held on May 16 and 22 respectively.

Mr Chavan said Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi would also campaign for the second and third phase elections.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy would be arriving here tomorrow for canvassing.
