Jute mill workers block road at Naihati

Barrackpore, May 5: A group of jute mill workers today blocked the Ghoshpara road at Naihati, linking the sub-divisional headquarters Barrackpore and Kanchrapara, for five hours to demand re-opening of the Nudia Jute Mill.

More than 3,000 workers were rendered unemployed following the closure of the mill more than a month ago, sources said.

However, no untoward incident was reported from the area so far, police said.
