HP will carry out research to identify 1857 martyrs: Dhumal
Shimla, May 5 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today announced that his government has decided to carry out research to identify the Himachali unknown martyrs, participated in 1857 revolution.
Speaking at two-day long Zonal Conference of the Bhartiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, the Chief Minister said to offer them reverence their busts ant statues will be installed across the state.
He said although the state happened to be a non-entity area consisting of many erstwhile states but people from all the areas had participated actively in giving momentum to the great Revolution of 1857.
The Chief Minister said the state government was mulling to carry out a research to identify the freedom fighters so that memorials in the shape of statues were raised in recognition of their martyrdom.
