Daughter refutes fathers kidnapping allegation
Amritsar, May 5 (UNI) A 21-year old girl of a property dealer of nearby Gumtala village has refuted her fathers claims that she was allegedly abducted by a youth of Varnala village in Tarn Taran district yesterday.
A kidnapping case has however been registered under section 366 of the IPC at the Sadar police station. The case was registered today following the complaint by Gurdial Singh father of the girl.
The father in his complaint claimed that the youth, identified as Harjit Singh had demanded a sum of Rs one crore for the release of his daughter.
Confirming the registeration of the case, SSP Vijay Partap Singh claimed that the girl had made a telephone call to the Sadar police station today afternoon and stated that she had gone with the youth on her own free will. The girl also stated that she would be marrying the youth and would approach the Punjab and Haryana high Court for protection as her father was against her marriage, the SSP said.
The SSP claimed that the girl had also refuted her fathers allegation that the youth had demanded Rs one crore for her 'release'.
Meanwhile, after the telephone call from the girl, the SSP has ordered DSP Balkar Singh to inquire into the matter.
