Annual spectrum revenue at Rs 3,000 cr in 2007-08

New Delhi, May 5 (UNI) The government today said the annual spectrum revenue has increased to Rs 3,000 crore in 2007-08 from Rs 25 crore in 1997-98.

''The annual spectrum revenue has increased to Rs 3,000 crore in 2007-08 from Rs 25 crore in 1997-98,'' Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Jyotiradiya Scindia said in a written statement to the Lok Sabha today.

The review of spectrum fee/cahrge is undertaken from time to time, taking into account various relevant aspects viz consultations with stakeholders, and the concerned ministries, with a view to bring spectrum charges to a realistic level, he added.

The spectrum usage charges are paid by the operators on a revenue share basis.
