RSP warns centre on price hike

Thiruvananthapuram, May 4(UNI) Stating that the Centre should immediately intervene in checking the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) General Secretary C Chandrachoodan today said the Left parties would force the Centre to do it.

Talking to mediapersons here, he alleged that the Centre totally failed in bringing down the prices of essential commodities.

Mr Chandrachoodan said the government had stopped collecting agriculture produce directly from the farmers which, according to him, helped hoarders to collect the produce.

Though the yield had increased this year, nothing could be seen in the market, as the entire produce was collected and stored by multinational companies.

He warned that the Left parties would force the Centre to make a change in this regard, and if it did not heed, the existence of the government would be in danger.

Though the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Kerala was a model to all other states, it was scuttled by the Centre because of bad politics, he claimed and alleged that it was nothing but eyeing the ensuing elections to Parliament.

Even the three Union Ministers from the state did not do anything for getting sufficient ration quota to the state, he alleged.
