GTDC takes up programmes to attract domestic tourists

Bangalore, May 4 (UNI) Goa Tourism department has taken up several programmes beginning with road shows to attract domestic tourists to its state.

Tourism department Director Elvis Gomes told reporters here that it has begun with a Bangalore Road Show to attract more number of tourists to visit Goa to spend their holidays.

Bangalore leads the list of tourists from metropolitan cities in the country visiting the state annually, he said.

"The department has launched packages like honeymoon package for newly wed couple," he said.

Mr Gomes said that the number of domestic tourists was ten times more in comparison to the overseas tourists to the state as their spending power has improved.

In all Goa registers more than 2.5 million tourists annually, he said.

To a question on Scarlet murder incident he said it had no impact on the tourism industry with cancellation whatsoever.
