Clouds, thunderstorm brings some relief from scorching heat

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) A cloud cover over the Capital and a thunderstorm today brought relief for Delhiites from the scorching heat of the last few weeks.

The clouds and thunderstorm, which hit the city towards the evening, gave some respite from the intense heat prevailing in the city.

The maximum temperature dropped by a couple of degrees, from a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius earlier in the day.

Earlier, in the morning, the minimum temeprature was recorded three degrees above normal at 27.1 degrees Celsius.

The weatherman attribute the clouds and thunderstorm to the influence of a fresh Western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

''A feeble western disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over Jammu&Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow onwards. In view of likely rain/thunderstorm activity from tomorrow onwards some respite is expected in plains of Northwest India from hot weather conditions over above regions after 24 hours,'' the weatherman said.

The relief from heat could persist over the next 24 hours with weathermen forecasting a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with duststorm or thunderstorm activity in some areas.

They have forecast a maximum temperature of 41 degree C tomorrow.
