Advani dedicates Halls of science, space

Ahmedabad, May 4 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani today dedicated two state-of-the-art exhibition halls -- ''Hall of Space'' and ''Hall of Science'' to the State at Gujarat Science City here.

Mr Advani, in his inaugural address, hailed efforts of the State government to promote science.

Eminent mathematician Prof A R Rao was felicitated by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who presided over the function.

Mr Modi said several projects were under taken to promote science and technology in the state.

The State secretary for Science and Technology, Rajkumar said Gujarat Science City is an initiative of the government to provide a perfect blend of education and entertainment.

It would showcase contemporary and imaginative exhibits, minds on experiences, working models, virtual reality, activity corners, labs and live demonstrations to provide an understanding of science and technology to the common man, he added.

Saroj Ghosh, Adviser to the Gujarat Science city project said the ''Hall of Space'' would display various space flights, images taken by Hubble telescope, scale models of all Indian satellites, launch vehicle, images taken from Indian remote sensing satellites and an animated exhibition on India's future moon mission ''Chandrayaan''.
