Vinod Chamoli sworn in as second Mayor of Dehra Dun

Dehra Dun, May 3 (UNI) Vinod Chamoli of the BJP today sworn in as the second Mayor of Dehra Dun.

Garhwal Mandal Commissioner Subhash Kumar administered the oath of office to Mr Chamoli in a ceremony at the Nagar Nigam office here in the morning.

The 60-newly elected ward members were then administered the oath in turn by the Mayor.

Mr Chamoli's win has secured the BJPs stronghold in the state which apart from wresting the Mayors seat, also won 28 out of the 60 ward seats in the state's second municipal polls, giving a blow to arch rival Congress.

The former Dehra Dun unit chief plans to turn the city into an infrastructure and tourism hub and a better town for its nearly seven lakh residents.
