Srirangam Temple car fest held

Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, May 3 (UNI) The annual car festival of the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple was held here today which was thronged by thouands of devotees from different parts of the country.

The ''Chithirai'' car festival commenced at about 0630 hrs when devotees started pulling the huge temple car chanting ''Ranga Ranga.'' After winding through all the four 'Chithirai' streets of this temple town, it was taken back to the temple.

State Ministers K N Nehru, Periyakaruppan and Selvaraj were among those who took part.

The festival was tagged with mass feeding, serving butter milk and cold beverages by various religious organisations.
