Rio calls for peace, unity among Naga brethren
Chuchuyimlang, May 3 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has appealed to the people of the state to work for peace and unity and urged the underground factions to stop fighting and reconcile.
Official sources today said the Chief Minister arrived here yesterday to celebrate the Moatsu, spring festival of the Ao tribe, jointly organised by the State Tourism department and the Ao community in Mokokchung district.
Mr Rio said peace and understanding among the Nagas was essential for the progress and development of the state.
Extending his greetings to the entire Ao community, he appreciated the preservation, promotion and display of traditional customs, values and tradition by the tribes.
State Home Minister Imkong L Imchen, PHE Minister Ngangshi K Ao and Health Minister Azo Neinu were also present at the festival.
Cultural items by various other tribes, including Phom and Chang, Bharatnatyam performances and Assam's Bihu dances were also shown at the festival.
