Posco-keen on the progress of the work
Bhubaneswar, May 3 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said Posco-India was very keen on the progress of the project.
The company was waiting for the judgement of the Supreme Court on the forest clearance, the Chief Minister told newspersons here after a meeting with the POSCO-India Chairman-Cum Managing Director Shou Sik Chou here.
Mr Chou hoped that the Apex court would give approval for the forest diversion plan. He said the company was keen to start the project work as quick as possible after the supreme court gave its clerance.
The CMD said the state government was very cooperative and extending all sorts of help.
Mr Chou said he discussed some procedural problems during his meeting with the Chief Minister today.
POSCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Orissa government in June 2005, to set up a 12-mtpa green field steel plant near Paradip, Jagatsinghpur District with an estimated investment of USD12 billion.
