MRPS leader held, activists resort to violence
Hyderabad, May 3 (UNI) Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) Founder-President Manda Krishna Madiga was today arrested from Indira park, where he was staging a fast-unto-death since eight days, demanding that the Government categorise the reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) into four groups.
The leader was arrested because of deteriorating health condition, police said. He was immediately shifted to Gandhi hosptial, and is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, irate MRPS activists staged dharnas at several places in the city and vandalised an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus by pelting stones.
In another violent incident, the MRPS activists set fire to the RDO office at Attapur in Ranga Reddy district. Computer, furniture and documents were gutted in the fire.
Police took some MRPS activists into preventive custody.
