HP seeks share of employment in SJVN projects
Shimla, May 3 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has urged the Central government to provide a minimum of 70 per cent employment at all level to the states youth in Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL).
The Chief Minister, in a letter written to Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde stated that a report on employment status of Himachalis in various hydro-electric projects showed that the state had not been getting fair representation of 70 per cent employment.
The Chief Minister said the state happened to be the equity partner in SJVNL's all ventures here and 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Project had been executed under the same analogy.
Mr Dhumal said besides completing 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Project, the organisation had been assigned the implementation of the 412 MW Rampur HEP, and added that the state had adopted new power policy which beside other conditions had made it mandatory to every power producer to provide at least 70 per cent employment at all level to the educated unemployed youth of the state.
''It had been noticed that SJVNL was not implementing same in its operational and under implementation projects'', he added.
