Four bogies of passenger train jump tracks
Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, May 3: Four bogies of the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil passenger train jumped tracks at the Nagercoil junction railway station last night, when it was being shunted to the yard after all the passengers alighted.
Railway sources said the bogies jumped tracks as the driver shunted them despite not getting the right signals.
Following the accident, the Nagercoil-Kanniyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram trains could not be run. Besides, the Chennai-Guruvayur train was halted at Aralvaimozhi, the Kollam-Madurai passenger train at Eraniel and the Chennai-Kanniyakumari Superfast Express train at Valliyur.
The Southern Railways arranged buses to transport the stranded passengers to Nagercoil.
