Court stays order in Collector's contempt case
Chittorgarh, May 3 (UNI) A local court has stayed trial court's ruling in a contempt case, involving District Collector P L Agrawal till pendency of the appeal filed by him.
Collector Agrawal has filed an appeal before Additional District and Session Judge (First) Baljit Kaur challenging a three-month jail term and attachment of property ordered by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Paras Kumar Jain.
In the appeal, Mr Agrawal's counsels B L Pokharna and Madan Lal Jain pleaded that since their client was not posted at the time of filing of the original petition in March 2006, the punishment handed out to him was not justified and therefore the order of the lower court be set aside.
The court has suspended the lower court's order till pendency of the appeal.
A petition was filed by then Bar Council Chairman Chand Mal Agrawal and others before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in March 2006 for improvement of parking facility on the court premises.
The court had directed the district administration to take effective action in this regard within a month.
However, no action had been taken and thus, a contempt petition was filed before the court.
