Constitutional Package details to be announced soon
Islamabad, May 2 (UNI) Multiple reforms have been proposed in the Constitutional Package for the judges, the details of which will be announced soon by PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H Naek, while talking to Geo News yesterday said the constitutional package would be put before the National Assembly alongwith the resolution to restore the deposed judges.
He said multiple reforms have been proposed in the constitutional package of which some have already been made public by Mr Nawaz Sharif.
National Assembly session would be convened on May 12. After finalisation of the draft resolution, to restore the judges, opinion of other coalition partners ANP and JUI-F would also be sought before tabling it in NA, he informed.
Regarding delay in announcing the reinstatement of judges he said the committee have to keep in mind each and every aspect and avoid clash and confrontation.
He said, both the parties are committed to reinstate the deposed judges. The goal of both parties is same. Disagreement on any issue is essence of democracy.
Delay was to ensure free independent and vibrant judiciary here in the country. Intentions are right and commitment is there to avoid any clash. Nobody is against the restoration of deposed judges. However method can be different, he concluded.
To a question regarding fear of stay order from the supreme court on National Assembly's resolution, he said all the aspects have already been discussed to avoid any complications.
The PPP had called for reinstatement of judges through constitutional package but the PML(N) insisted that they should be restored through a parliamentary resolution as initially agreed by the two parties.
