Bodoland issues soon to be resolved by Centre

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) to bring permanent peace in the North Eastern Region (NER), the Centre has initiated peace talks with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) to normalise the law and order situation in the region.

The Centre held preliminary round of peace talks with the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) here on Thursday which was attended by Joint Secretary, North East(Division) Navin Verma along with other senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and NDFB President Gobindo Basumatari along with two of his other office bearers.

At the meet, the NDFB leaders submitted a ten point charter of demands which included granting of full Statehood to Bodoland along with a host of economic package towards improving the economy of Bodoland.

According to NDFB sources, a delegation of six to seven members were expected to have full fledged discussion on Bodoland issues with the Centre which is expected to be held here on May 5, the sources added.
