Bikhchandani elected IAMAI Chairman
Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) Founder and chief executive officer of Info Edge India Limited, Sanjeev Bikhchandani has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) for 2008-09.
Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) General Manager (Operations) Sanjay Aggarwal and Co-Founder of Interactive Avenues Ratish Nair were elected Vice Chairman and Treasurer respectively, an IAMAI release said today.
Dr Subho Ray, the president of the association, will continue with his current responsibility.
The IAMAI governing board, at a meeting here yesterday, also unanimously elected Rediff.com founder chairman and managing director, Ajit Balakrishnan as its chairman emeritus, a life-time appointment. He would head the council of past chairpersons and provide strategic direction to the association.
Commenting on the priorities before the association, Mr Bikhchandani said, ''Building bridges and partnerships with relevant government agencies is the top priority. Broadband penetration, better terms of business for online publishers and mobile content and services industry too are on top of the list''.
Mr Aggarwal, a career bureaucrat of Indian Railways, leads the operations of the largest e-commerce business in India and has contributed in making online transactions safe for the ordinary surfers.
