'Anti-Pakistan' militants being 'detoxified'

{image-pak boopadam_03052008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Islamabad, May 3: Efforts are on to 'detoxify' militants staying in Pakistan's tribal agencies, convincing them that attacking Pakistani forces, people or state installations "is no jihad at all".

According to tribal leaders involved with the project, some mujahideen leaders brainwash teenagers, telling them that each and every Pakistani is their enemy and his or her killing is justified, and therefore, there is a need to reform them, as Islam does not allow jihad against Muslims. Expressing concern over the "anti-Pakistan posture" of some mujahideen leaders in the Tribal Areas, one of the tribal leaders said: "We will never wage jihad inside Pakistan. Yes, we do attack the US forces across the border and that is what real jihad is all about."

He told the Daily Times that his aim was to make it clear to the mujahideen where and against whom the 'real jihad' is to be waged.
