Aid for ailing Hindi writer

Bhopal, May 3: Noted Hindi writer Amarkant, who was ailing for a long time, has been provided financial assistance of Rs one lakh by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The 83-year-old prolific writer is a recipient of Madhya Pradesh Government's National Maithili Sharan Samman.

Wishing him fast recovery, Mr Chouhan stresed on the ned to take care of the health and problems of the writers, official sources said.

Mr Amarkant has a number of novels to his credit including the famous book entitled 'Sukhjeevi'. His story collection 'Zindagi Aur Jaunk' is very popular. He has also penned many stories for children.

He is recipient of various prestigious awards, including the Soviet Land Nehru Award, Yashpal award, Jan Sanskriti Samman and has also been honoured by Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan.
