Zaffar new secretary of JKAACL, Masoodi new Director DD in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 2 (UNI) Mr Zaffar Iqbal Manhas took over as 17th Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

Mr Manhas replaced Dr Rafeeq Masoodi who has been appointed Director, Doordarshan kendra, Srinagar.

Mr Manhas has authored, translated and edited more then 100 books in different languages published by the JKAACL.

He has also headed various prestigious research projects including Pahari-Pahari Dictionary.

Mr Manhas said the Academy would organise functions in all parts of the state to promote Literature in langueges like Kashmiri, Dogri, Urdu, Hindi, Gojri, Pahari, Balti, Ladakhi and Pahari besides providing suitable platform to the young and budding writers.

The main objective of these programmes would be to bring together the artists, writers, musicians and theatre artists from all over the State.

He also impressed upon the NGOs and other institutions to help the Academy in searching of new talent in cultural fields and work for the promotion of the cultural heritage of the State.
