Traditional umbrella catches fire in Tirumala temple
Tirumala,Andhra Pradesh, May 2 (UNI) The traditional 'Sri Vari Umbrella'' caught fire at the Sri Venkateswara Temple here during the 'Vasanototsavam' in which the processional deity of Lord Malayappaswamy was being taken around the four Mada Streets today.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the idols of Lord Malayappaswamy and his consorts were being taken from the Tirumala Temple to the Vaibhavotsave Mandapam.
The umbrella caught fire from the sparks emanating from the holy torch ('Panchamuhi Diviti').
TTD Special Officer Dharma Reddy said the fire occurred due to severe heat conditions.This was the fourth such incident in Tirumala temple in less than three months.
