Three Pakistanis beheaded in Saudi Arabia

Dubai, May 2: Three Pakistanis were beheaded in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking, six days after two of their compatriots were executed by sword in Jeddah. All the five were convicted for drug trafficking including the Pakistanis , who were beheaded yesterday, the official news agency SPA said.

A total of 56 people have been executed in the Kingdom so far this year for offences like rape, drug trafficking and murder all of which attract death penalty. A record 153 people were put to death in 2007 in the Gulf kingdom, which applies a strict version of sharia, or Islamic law. As compared to this, 37 people were beheaded in 2006.
