RSP commences fiscal 2008-9 with sterling performance
Rourkela, May 2 (UNI) After concluding the fiscal 2007-08 by surpassing all previous records, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) commenced the fiscal 2008-09 with a sterling performance.
RSP's performance during April 2008 was the best as compared to any April since inception of the steel plant in the production of sinter, hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel as well as despatches of saleable steel.
The plant produced 2,77,281 ton of sinter, 1,79,334 ton of hot metals registering a growth of 22 per cent over April last year in both sectors.
The total crude steel production reached 1,69,211 ton, registering a growth of nearly 28 per cent over April last year.
Total saleable steel output of 1,56,275 ton recorded a growth of more than 33 per cent compared to last April and despatches of saleable steel stood at 1,40,485 ton thereby growing by about 18 per cent over last April.
The growth over April of last year was also recorded in other finished products like hot rolled plates, electric resistance weld pipes and galvanized sheets.
