Rs 3 crore worth Ganja destroyed in AP
Hyderabad, May 2 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Police and Excise department today destroyed ganja plantation worth Rs three crore in the tribal villages of Narayankhed mandal in Medak district, about 200 km away from the city.
Narayankhed Circle Inspector Rathod said acting on a tip- off, the special teams raided the Kishanlal and Venuka Tandas (tribal habitiations), where the tribals were clandestinely cultivating ganja.
Police destroyed the ganja crops by setting them on fire in the presence of the tribals. The ganja was usually transported to the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Maharashtra from the district.
The Excise and police departments have approached the Revenue department to find out about the owners of the land, where the ganja was being cultivated.
