Record revenue collection in Bihar: Modi
Patna, May 2 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said by realising Rs 3633.27 crore, the Commerce department had made record revenue collection of 99.54 per cent during the FY 2007-08.
Overwhelmed by the record revenue realisation by the department, Mr Modi, also holding the Finance portfolio, said here that the achievement was satisfactory.
He said the revenue realisation had accrued by 23.16 per cent compared to the 2006-07 during which the department had realised the revenue of Rs 2950.14 crore only.
Mr Modi directed the concerned authorities to send sub-division wise report with detail analysis based on the facts.
He also asked them to be computer savy and utilise the modern technology for quick and better services.
He said e-payment, e-return and e-registration facilities were being provided and the tax payee would now be able to file their returns from their home.
Such activities would bring transparancy in the works as well as save the tax payee from unnecessary harassment, he opined.
Getting tough on the defaulters, Mr Modi announced to initiate action against them belonging to the small scale traders, who were earlier submitting their return quarterly, but had failed to file the same for the last one year.
