'Mo Ghar Mo Parivar' centres to help non-resident Oriyas
Bhubaneswar, May 2 (UNI) The Orissa government has decided to set up assistance centres in Oriya populated cities to help Non-Resident Oriyas working outside the state.
The centres which will be known as '' Mo Ghar Mo Parivar'' would be opened in places like Surat and Raipur where a large number of Oriyas are working.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.
The review meeting which was held to assess the success of various self employment schemes revealed that more than three lakh self employment opportunities were created during the last three years in Orissa.
Official sources said the opportunities for employment were created mainly in the service sector.
According to the review during bank had provided loan assistance to 84,827 people in 2006-07 and to 2,28,800 people during the next year for self employment.
Similarly, the Directorate of Technical Education and Training had imparted training to 4516 people in 2005-06, 7700 in 2006-07 and to 14,867 in 2007-08.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance on imparting training on various foreign languages and on IT sector for the skill development of the students.
Since the state had great potential for development in environment tourism in the state, Mr Patnaik advised the officials to train the local people as guide to help the tourists visiting Chilika and Bhitarkanika.
The meeting decided to widen the pre-recruitment training in naxal affected areas for recruitment in the army.
