Mixed response to BJP's bandh in Jammu
Jammu, May 2 (UNI) The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir has given a mixed response to the call for nationwide bandh by the Opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today to protest against the price rise of essential commodities.
The strike called against inflation had a partial effect, with markets downing their shutters in some areas of the city.
Large number of BJP activists demonstrated against the Government and shouted slogans against the spiralling price.
Major markets of the city including Kanak Mandi, Ware House, Lakhdatta Bazar, Purani Mandi, Jain Bazar were closed, while shutters of some of the shops remained up in mini markets of west and south Jammu.
Meanwhile, the strike had no affect on transportation and public offices.
