Cheater arrested by police in Doda, J
Jammu, May 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a cheater for extorting hefty amount from people in tehsil Bhadwerwah of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
Police said that the accused identified as Noor Mohd resident of Amritpura, Tehsil Gandoh was apprehended by the police for extorting hefty amount from people on the plea to appoint them in government service.
''The cheater extorted an amount of Rs 3000 from one Ganesha Devi resident of Basti tehsil and Rs 3300 from one Mohd Yousaf resident of Bonjowa at present Nalthi Tehsil Bhaderwah,'' Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Manohar Singh told UNI yesterday.
He said that after getting information regarding the movement of the accused in Bhaderwah area, police swung into action and arrested him.
''The cheater was associated with one Dazy, resident of Basti, who is absconding while a case against FIR No. 55/2008 under section 420 RPC stands registered against them,'' the SSP said.
