BSP candidate stages dharna

Mysore, May 2 (UNI) Former Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency Jayakumar today staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here protesting against the election officials' alleged harassment during the election campaign.

More than 50 members along with Mr Jayakumar staged dharna for an hour in front of the office of district election office demanding immediate release of the vehicles seized during the election campaign.

Mr Jayakumar alleged that the election officials, particularly in Chamundeswari Constituency, were harassing his party workers, not allowing them to meet the voters.

They were also imposing strong restrictions to meet the voters and seized vehicles of his party workers.

Mr Jayajumar later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner. After receiving assurance from the Deputy Commissioner stating that an all party meeting would be convened here tomorrow to discuss the issue, Mr Jayakumar called off the dharna.
