BJP now in position to form govt in Karnataka: Advani
Mysore, May 2 (UNI) BJP Leader L K Advani today said the saffron party has now reached a position of strength to form a government on its own in Karnataka.
Speaking at an election rally here, he said the party had made a modest beginning with four seats in 1994 which later grew to 44 seats during 1999. It won 79 seats in 2004 becoming the largest party in the Assembly.
''Sadly, we were denied forming a government despite being the biggest party. Now, we are ready to march ahead and install the party's government,'' he said.
The BJP will take Karnataka towards development and this month's Assembly election was important as the party grew in power in the South, he said.
Mr Advani said the people had compared the NDA and the UPA governments and the ruling coalition's 'total failure' was evident.
Assembly elections in Karnataka would be an eye opener to the political changes in general elections to Lok Sabha next year in the country.
He complimented the BJP manifesto for the Assembly elections and said if it comes to power all promises made in the manifesto would be implemented.
Earlier, Mr Advani who addressed the election meeting at Chamarajanagara appealed to the people to teach a lesson to the party which betrayed the BJP in the coalition government.
