Army to recruit religious teachers in Ambala Cantt
Chandigarh, May 2 (UNI) Army Recruiting Office, Ambala Cantt has decided to recruit Junior Commissioned Officers--Religious Teachers like Pandits, Granthis and Monks--for RRT-58 course to fill total 26 vacancies.
Sixteen of these vacancies were for Pandits, eight for Granthis and two for Monks, a spokesman for Army Recruiting Office said.
The eligible candidates, in case of a civil person, should not be below the age of 27 years or over 34 years as on November 24, 2008. Similarly, in case of re-mustered Army person, the candidate should not be below 25 years or over 34 years as on November 24, 2008.
He said the minimum educational qualification for appointment would be graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.
Besides, the candidate must also possess one of the prescribed qualifications according to the religious denomination of the individual.
In case of Pandit, the candidate should possess Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard in the concerned regional language. Those who have passed BA with Sanskrit or Hindi as one of the elective subject but have not done Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi, would also be eligible.
He said that for the post of Granthi, the minimum qualification would be graduation from a recognised university. In addition, the candidate must also be qualified as Vidwan in Punjabi or equivalent standard in the concerned regional language. Those who have passed BA with Punjabi as one of the elective subjects, but have not done Vidwan in Punjabi, would also be eligible.
He said those who had been ordained Buddhist Monk priesthood by the appropriate authority would be eligible to be a Monk.
