296 nominations received for phase 3 poll day

Bangalore, May 2 (UNI) Former KPCC President V S Kaujalagi and BJP Lok Sabha Member Basavaraj Patil Yatnal were among the 296 candidates who filed their nomination papers to contest in the third phase polls to the Karnataka Assembly on the penultimate day of submiting nominations for the 69 Assembly Seats.

As many as 517 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the May 22 third phase elections spread over eight districts, so far.

The last date for submitting nomination papers was tomorrow.

The scrutiny will be done day after and May seven will be the last date for withdrawal of papers.

The number of nominations received in Belgaum District was 80 followed by Bhagalkot (29), Bijapur (47), Gulbarga (52), Bidar (25), Dharwad (39), Haveri (19) and Gadag (5).
