Woman attempts to end life in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) A 26-year-old woman attempted suicide in the Kashmir valley, official sources said today.

They said Tabasum consumed some poisonous substances in her rented room at Firdousabad, Batmaloo, to end her life. However, she was immediately shifted to hospital where her condition was described critical.

The trend to commit suicide by people, particularly women, has not stopped despite fatwa by Muslim ulemas against it. The ulemas said suicide was an act against the teachings of Islam.
