The cases of former terrorists must be reviewed: Bhandari
Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) While describing the demand for ''Khalistan'' as ''irrelevant'', Punjab state Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajinder Bhandari today stressed the need to review the cases of former militants living in foreign lands, to bring them back into the national mainstream.
Prof Bhandari, who has just returned from a 10-day visit to the US and Canada, told reporters here that many ''blacklisted'' mililants wanted to return to the homeland but were apprehensive of being arrested.
Without divulging his identity, Mr Bhandari said during his visit abroad, a militants had met him and expressed keen wish to comeback.
The BJP leader urged the Centre to review the ''blacklist'' with an ''open mind''.
''These militants must be allowed to express their viewpoint under the ambit of the Indian constitution,'' he said.
'' If hardcore terrorists like Wasan Singh Zafarwal and Jagjit Chauhan could return to India why can't the misguided youth, who got involved in anti-national activity due to emotional factor, be given a chance,'' he said.
