R S Sharma takes over as new CMD of NTPC

Patna, May 1 (UNI) R S Sharma today took over as the new Chairman and Managing Director of power giant NTPC Limited.

Renowned technocrat Mr Sharma was posted as Director, Marketing of NTPC before taking over the new position. He has been associated with NTPC for more than 37 years.

Considered to be a pioneer in establishing power exchanges in various parts of India, Mr Sharma held a number of senior positions in differect divisions of NTPC and acquired huge experiences in different aspects of power generation.

A mechanical engineer from the Rewa Government engineereing college, Mr Sharma began his career in the Madhya Pradesh State Eelectricity Board before joining NTPC.

He was also considered to be the main architect of 2600 mw Ramagundam project, 1000 mw Simhadri plant and 350 mw Kayam Uphalam combined power project of NTPC in the early 1990s.

He has also submitted a number of technical papers in various international seminars on the running of power plants,company sources here today informed.
