NDA urges President to dismiss UPA govt on price rise

Patna, May 1 (UNI) The Bihar NDA today urged President Pratibha Patil to dismiss the UPA government at the Centre, charging the latter with failing to contain the rising prices of essentials.

The state NDA today shot off a letter to Ms Patil through Bihar Governor R S Gavai, urging the former to dismiss the UPA government as it had miserably failed to check the steep rise in prices of essentials despite widespread hue and cry as well as miseries faced facing the masses.

''It is ironical that the Centre is trying to pass the buck on states alleging the state government is not going tough against hoarders and black-marketeers despite several reminders by the Union government in this regard,'' the NDA leaders said.

The prevailing prices of the essentials like wheat, rices, pulses and other cereals had increased manifold since the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government demitted the office at the Centre four years back, they asserted.

The escalation of prices in construction materials like cement, iron, bitumen and stone chips had affected the development of Bihar as the massive infrastructural development works, initiated by the Nitish Kumar government was affected by the soaring prices.
