Nation Lost 'True' Follower Of Mahatma Gandhi : Arjun Singh

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) India's poor and oppressed class lost an activist in the death of renowned Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande, Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh said today.

Calling her ''a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi,'' Singh said, ''I am deeply shocked to hear the sudden demise of renowned Gandhian and social activist Ms Nirmala Deshpande.'' The HRD Minister said ''She was dedicated throughout her life to the values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. She worked for peace, non violence, social justice and upliftment of poor and oppressed class.'' He said her death ''has caused irreparable loss to us and we will always remember her.
