MPTS holds demo on power cuts

Tiruchirapalli, May 1: Members of the Matthiya Podhu Thozhilalar Sangam (MPTS) staged a novel protest at Manapparai, near here, yesterday protesting frequent power cuts in Manapparai Taluk in Tiruchirapalli District, affecting agricultural operations.

While a section of women sang odes on farmers' woes, a group of farmers were marching behind carrying a few hurricane lamps, dried sugarcane and withered banana.

Raising slogans, they urged the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to ensure uninterrupted power supply to save the standing crops of sugarcane and banana.
