Kerala CM raises HC bench issue with President

Thiruvananthapuram, May 1: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan called on President Pratibha Devisingh Patil last night and raised the issue of setting up a High Court bench in the state capital.

Last week, the Chief Minister had also raised the issue with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Law Minister Hansraj Bharadwaj in Delhi.

The agitation for the High Court bench had been going on for a long time. Politicians, lawyers and social activists among others had been engaged in agitations supporting the demand.
