IRBn results suspended in Meghalaya
Shillong, May 1 (UNI) The Meghalaya government has decided to temporarily suspend the announcement of results of the 5th Indian Reserved Police Battalion due to alleged irregularities during the recruitment drive in the state.
''We have decided to suspend the announcement of results, as the government is yet to get the factual details of the results from the Central Recruitment Board,'' state Home Minister H S Lyngdoh said.
According to reports in a section of the press, more than half the candidates for appointment in 5th India Reserve Police Battalion were recommended by the Chief Minister and other ministers in the previous Congress led government.
The Home Minister also alleged that Central Recruitment Board Chairman Anil Pradhan, also a senior IPS officer, had taken the files and deleted all datas related to the recruitment drive from the computer.
''Mr Pradhan has taken away all the files and deleted important data from computers relating to the recruitment process. In the absence of these files, the present government is facing lots of difficulties in following up this matter,'' Mr Lyngdoh observed.
Mr Pradhan was the first bureaucrat to be removed by the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance government. The Home Department issued the transfer order to Pradhan who was holding Additional DGP in-charge CID to Additional DGP in-charge Prison.
Today, Mr Pradhan, accompanied with two other members of the Board met the Home Minister and clarified him about the process of the recruitment drive to the 5th Indian Reserve Police Battalion.
''I have not destroyed any of the files or datas from the computer. The files are lying in the office and I have told the Home Minister that whenever he requires the files the same will be handed to him immediately,'' Mr Pradhan said.
