HC orders repolling in two booths of Katihar Assy constituency
Patna, May 1 (UNI) Patna High Court today ordered repolling in two booths of Katihar Assembly constituency where election was held in 2005.
BJP candidate Tar Kishore Prasad had defeated RJD candidate Dr Ram Prakash Mahto by a narrow margin of 116 votes in Assembly election to Katihar seat in 2005.
A single bench of Justice S N Hussain ordered for repolling after accepting the plea of Dr Mahto that the BJP candidate had used his influence to intimidate the voters of two booths-- 9 and 9 (A) as only 15 electorate had used their franchise against more than 1400 voters listed for these booths.
'' On the basis of the outcome of the polling of the two booths, the Election Commission will renotify the result of the Katihar Assembly election held in 2005,'' said counsel of the petitioner S B K Manglam while talking about the repercussion of the court directive.
