Grading system in degree courses too: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, May 1 (UNI) Close on the heels of introducing grading system in plus two level, the Kerala Government has decided to extend the grading and semester system to degree examinations also, Education Minister M A Baby said.
Talking to mediapersons after a Higher Education Council meeting here yesterday, he said the Council had decided to implement the system in the degree level from the next academic year.
Though the Government had earlier wanted to introduce the system from this academic year, it had decided to postpone it to the next academic year as the Government wanted to plug all loopholes before implementing it.
Stating that the Government would make all preparations before introducing it in colleges, the Minister said the teachers, colleges and University staff would be prepared for the effective implementation of the system through rigorous training and seminars.
It had also decided to print the names of colleges in certificates, he added.
Claiming that the hue and cry by students organisations against the system was without realising the facts about grading system, Mr Baby said the Government would talk to the organisations to clear their anxiety over it.
Earlier, the Kerala Students Union workers protested against the grading system, while the meeting was on and they were removed by the police.
