Diamonds worth Rs 40 lakh stolen in Surat
Surat, May 1 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants broke into a diamond factory, situated at Vrundhavan society, in Varachha area of the city and robbed diamonds worth Rs 40 lakh.
Police sources said the miscreants opened the factory door by using a duplicate key last night and broke the safe (almariah), where the diamonds were kept.
Police suspect that the theft was the handiwork of some internal workers, who used a duplicate key in the entire operation.
Owner of the diamond factory, Pravin Vaghasia, lodged a complaint with Varachha police station today.
A case of theft has been registered against the unknown persons.
No arrest has been made so far, sources added.
